The Junior Academy’s final competition of the year was seamlessly organised by our very competent Junior Captain. Charlie Cowell delivered a light-hearted, nine-hole Texas scramble, which proved to be an engaging and accessible format; fitting for the time of year. In festive fancy dress, teams of three took on the demanding front nine of the East course, before returning to the clubhouse for the prizegiving ceremony.
The brisk south westerly wind challenged the players to hold the fifth green, but Harry Cohen’s Titleist 96 just clung onto the left edge and won him the prize for nearest the pin, despite being as from the pin as is feasibly possible.
Winning the overall competition and with a low score of 28 were Rufus Dymond, Archer and Finton Johnson and the fancy dress winners were Santa, Elf and Rudolph.
Well done to all the prize-winning stars this year and a huge ‘thank you’ to all those involved, without whom, the academy could not exist. George Fennell will be our new Captain for 2026 and that wraps up the season for the Junior Academy this year.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
