A 5 will win the opening hole more times than not. Keep this in mind. The length of the opening hole demands a driver. Left of centre is ideal from the tee, as most of the trouble is on the right.
There is a cross ditch, approximately 60 yards short of the green which is open outwards from the edge of the fairway on both sides. If this cannot be easily negotiated with the second, lay up to leave a comfortable approach shot.
